A Vax for Ox

We closed 2017 with some actual good news: the W.H.O. reported that measles deaths in 2016 worldwide fell to an all time low of 89,780.  According to the New York Times, “the decline — a public health triumph, as measles has long been a leading killer of malnourished children — was accomplished by widespread donor-supported vaccination that began in the early 2000s.”

This is fantastic news! But unfortunately the NYT chose to illustrate their article with yet another photo of a terrified child being held down by two adults, one of whom is jamming a needle into his arm.

As many of us repeatedly point out on twitter, these photos provoke fear and mistrust rather than convey a positive message about vaccination.

As new parents ourselves, we are now intimately acquainted with the terror that goes along with suddenly being responsible for a precious new life. We question and second guess every decision we make about play, feeding, clothing, childcare and traveling. It doesn’t matter that we know rationally how adaptable children are—the emotions take over.

One decision we don’t question is our choice to vaccinate our child Ox (not what it says on his birth certificate) on time and according to schedule. We’d actually been looking forward to his two-month pediatrician appointment, because after he received his shots we would feel much better about our upcoming holiday travels.

mighty bear
Even mighty bears need help fighting off pertussis.

We knew what to expect from a conversation with our pediatrician at the last visit, which made the visit less stressful than it might have been. She let us know that Ox would get some oral droplets and a few injections, and that he’d probably squall and be fussy the rest of the day.

When the day came, though, Ox hardly minded the vaccinations themselves. He fussed more about the measurements the nurses took–head circumference, length, weight, and so on. We’re data people, so we love the charts our pediatrician generates showing how Ox is growing compared to the national averages. (Lean, long, big head–he’s a lollipop.) Ox does not love the poking and prodding it takes to generate that data. And that’s fair, because it can’t be fun to have a stranger wrap a tape around your head, strip you naked, drop you on a scale, and stretch you out to see how long you are.

After all that, the vaccinations themselves were easy. Ox got his DTap, polio, Hib, pneumococcal, Hep B and Rotavirus vaccines in that batch–a total of three shots and some oral drops. Reading through the consent form and the information packet that came with it took much longer than the vaccinations themselves.

Inked20171205-KCM_0253_LI

The nurses stretched Ox’s legs out and gave him a shot in each chubby little thigh at the same time, followed quickly by a third. There was a little blood and a fair amount of complaining (all from Ox), but neither lasted long. We hung around in the exam room long enough to nurse him, which calmed him right down, then got him dressed and took him home. He may have been a little sleepier than usual–it’s hard to tell when they’re so young–but recovered right away. And the most important thing is that he’s safer now than he was before, protected against diseases that devastated babies his age before the immunizations were worked out.

20171205-KCM_0281
Hey New York Times, this is what a vaccination picture should look like–a real immunization, with a happy and healthy baby.

We’ll be going back for his second round of shots before long. Ox is too young to know what’s going on, but we do–we’ve done enormous amounts of research and been through the first set of shots already. We’re looking forward to giving him a bigger, stronger shield against vaccine-preventable diseases. And if Ox knew what we do, he would be too.

Thank you, Dorit! I have to admit I’m infatuated 😉

Ox is a lucky little man,
And now he won’t have to worry about getting or giving those diseases.

Thank you for sharing this little chapter of your journey.
Now get back to writing the science that will help us all understand our global neighbors, and help us relinquish “us vs them” thinking,
And teaching young adults to think carefully.

Yes, I’m putting all that on you. 😀

Ox is a cutie! We had very similar experiences with out little one: angry about being prodded and stretched, unhappy about the pokes, but much better and happier after a good nurse. Coincidently, that night was my first (and only) 6-hour uninterrupted sleep since he was born. Having him vaccinated knocked one thing off my holiday travel worry list. All he picked up on the plane ride was a cold (and that was bad enough for this Mom).

    • Jennifer Raff January 3, 2018 / 12:08 pm

6 hours of uninterrupted sleep!!!!! I long for that day.

      • Chris January 3, 2018 / 5:29 pm

Oh, it is lovely when that happens. My youngest was finally sleeping through the night when she was six months old.

Then her older brother gave her chicken pox (a few months before the varicella vaccine was available). That poor baby was so miserable. I do not have kind feelings for those who think kids need to be covered in dozens of itchy open wounds (pox) from getting that disease.

Ox is cutie! Plus I am glad he will not have to suffer from some of the diseases my now adult children had to go through.

I started smelling a propaganda piece very early on. And there is Dorit, on the spot, #1 comment, so that just makes it all the more obvious.

Sadly, there are people out there who may eat up this “assurance” that injecting known harmful chemicals, and biological waste products obtained from other species, containing foreign viruses, RNA and DNA, is “healthy and harmless.”

It’s very interesting that measles as “killer of malnourished children” is mentioned, but that no proposal for improving the health of the children with nourishment is mentioned. As far as trusting the statistics of WHO, I no longer trust anything that corporate-run agencies, disguised as government health institutions, tell us. And remember, they’re still sticking with the story that injecting PUS scraped from wounds on cows is what ended smallpox epidemics, which is absolutely false!

I could try going into a lot of detail, and take up a lot of space to refute the numerous deceptions contained in this article, but I will just say that nourishment is important; then the majority of children breeze through commonplace childhood diseases and are then rendered not only immune for life, but with a stronger immune system. This does not happen when they’re injected with diseased animal cells, accompanied by toxic heavy metals. Deaths are produced, and the damages are many, both short term and long term, but the information is so well concealed from the public, that most people don’t even know how to connect the dots when they become afflicted with them.

For those who are interested in learning the true history of vaccines and epidemics, I suggest, for a start, reading “Dissolving Illusions,” by Dr. Suzanne Humphries, “Every Vaccine Produces Harm,” by Dr. Andrew Moulden, and “The Medical Mafia” by Dr. Guylaine Lanctot (the last will give some insight into the impetus for this “Vax for Ox” article).

Oh no clean water, and improved living considtions is what your going with? You mean like the lviing conditions found in India? Which was recently declared polio free? http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2007/05/dharavi-mumbai-slum/jacobson-text All that clean water, and sanitary conditions over there, I’m jealous!. Here is a much better retort to your inclusion of a book, that isn’t actually written by Dr. Andrew Moulden (deceased) http://vaccinepapers.org/dr-andrew-moulden/ spoiler, it’s absent any science, and heavy on reliance of Natural News articles. Dr Guylaine Lanctot links vaccines with biological weapons, and targeted genocide.. weird that vaccines have been around for decades, and the population in the US continues to increase. I’m curious which group is being targeted for destruction, and just how long will it take to achieve? She also states 1/5 child (whom eventually become adults) has overwhelming disabilities, neurological and/or seizures. Seriously? how is it then that 20% of all people in the US do NOT have neurological problems or seizures?

      • Sukijopa January 5, 2018 / 6:51 pm

I went to your “Vaccine Papers,” and it comes from the same sources which protect the industry. Here is an interview with Dr. Andrew Moulden:

Dr. Andrew Moulden (Interview): What You Were Never Told …
        http://www.vitalityenergyspirit.com/pdfs/andrew moulde intervieuw.pdf

And as far as the polio “eradication” in India:

“Between January 2014 and March 2015, India reported four cases from four different States, of vaccine-derived polio. This is not all. Until November this year, the country has reported 36,968 cases of non-polio AFP. For those who follow the sector, this is neither news nor surprising. There has been a surge of non-polio AFP since India eradicated polio. The number of cases reported in 2012 was 59,436, in 2013 it was 53,421, and in 2014 it was 53,383.

“According to an article in the American journal Pediatrics, ‘there is an undeniable link between the increase in incidence of NPAFP (non-polio AFP) and the number of OPV doses delivered in any region.’ ” – Hindu Newspaper – 2016

        • Michael Vlachos January 6, 2018 / 4:10 am

hahahahah, so you’re going with it’s a change in how we define polio? http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/polio-free-does-not-mean-paralysis-free/article4266043.ece so not only did they increase the likelihood of it being reported but they included much more non-polio diseases than any other country. “The programme in India had taken a much broader interpretation of what would qualify as an AFP case than other countries have. Although facial paralysis would not be part of a standard definition of AFP, it was included in that definition for India. Other similar examples were diseases like meningo-encephalitis, Bells palsy, post-diphtheria polyneuritis and spinal muscular atrophy. Data had shown that broadening the case definition led to the detection of some polio cases that would have otherwise been missed, the WHO Country Office noted.” So yeah, there was a drastic increase in Non Polio Acute Flaccid Paralysis, do to increased awareness, and observation (and increase in paces making those observations) during the attempt to become polio free. As well as a drastic increase in diseases included in the definition of NPAFP.

However if you’d like a more recent article, namely the exact one you quoted http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/is-india-actually-free-of-polio/article7945687.ece “To be clear, the problem is not with the vaccine itself, but low vaccination coverage. That VDPV is circulating in the community that is under-immunised marks the failure of the Central government”

India, obviously still has health woes, of this there is no argument. They just don’t have any from polio. Which gives the lie that clean water and improved sanitation eradicated disease instead of vaccinations.

        • Michael Vlachos January 6, 2018 / 5:40 am

OMG you’re seriously going to go with http://www.vitalityenergyspirit.com/ as a source? “We live in Brazil in rural areas, where we try to honor the sacred agreement that every warrior makes with mother earth, living like warriors where there is no chemical or electromagnetic pollution, we breath clean fresh air that still has 20% oxygen and drink pure water from unpolluted wells and eat organic produce from gardens set in unpolluted soil.” yeah, that’s a credible source. I’m sure they have lots of research data to back them up, yes? http://www.vitalityenergyspirit.com/pdfs/andrew%20moulde%20intervieuw.pdf.

“2.) Dr. Moulden, we understand that you have made a revolutionary discovery. Can you tell us about it?
          I would be happy to.
Through my extensive research and my work throughout the years, I have discovered that vaccinations are causing impaired blood flow
(ischemia) to brain and body from clinically silent to death. These are strokes – across the board for all of us. I have reason to believe that
all are being affected and all vaccinations ARE causing the overwhelming rise in autism, specific learning disabilities, attention deficit
disorders, sudden infant death, gulf war syndrome, dementia, seizure disorders, some cancers it would appear, and much much more.” Vaccines are causing strokes, Autism, ADD, SIDS, Seizures, cancers, and Gulf war syndrome? He’s got proof of this yes? proof that can be replicated by others?

“4.) What was it which caught your attention, what tipped you off and incited you to scratch the surface and investigate further?
I was seeing, autistic patients, coming out of medical school – they had a trans-cortical motor aphasia, isolation of speech syndrome, and
very specific cranial nerve palsies that could ONLY be accounted for by ischemic stroke” wait what? Autism is caused by ischemic strokes? I’m curious how exactly did a vaccine cause a blockage in a blood vessel of the brain? And is such a specific area? Is there some some unknown chemical marker in only that area, that causes vascular constriction? come on know, I’m looking for some data, proof that this is happening, not just “I said so, and I have a PhD, so I’m right” Especially when literally thousands of other people with medical PhD, disagree with him.

“6.) What is the basic information underlying your claims and what is the foundation of your beliefs?
Germs simply are not the only root cause of death, disease, and disorder. I have now conclusively shown that ALL vaccines, from infancy
to geriatric, are causing the exact same brain damages irrespective of what disease or disorder comes out. The damages are specific to end
vascular “mini strokes” that are beneath the resolution of our neuroimaging, but measurable in a before/after vaccination protocol. They
are also directly measurable in real time – however, this involves techniques and technology I have not disclosed to the public as yet.” Oh fucking horse shit. not a damn this this guy has said is true. not one. But I’m curious, about this medical imaging technology, surely someone in his orbit has found it since then? I mean it would make a fortune, if it could prevent SIDS, ADD, seizures, cancer, autism, etc… How is this not a thing? It’s all about the money, right? Just imagine how much money a hospital could make if it (and only it) could successfully prevent even one of those?

          “Andrew Moulden – MASS1
The evidence is now self evident. All you have to do now is receive the education you need to appreciate and see what is before your very
          eyes – layperson and Doctor.
My imaging is called the 12-IMAM – 12 “Eye” M.A.S.S. Anoxia Measures” based on the 12 cranial nerves. “MASS” stands for
“Moulden Anoxia Spectrum Syndromes. Anoxia refers to impaired oxygen delivery to tissue.” No hypoxia is impaired oxygenation of tissues. Anoxia is an absence of oxygen.

“11.) Do you think it is possible to determine in advance (using medical tests or clinical examination) who is most likely to react /
which individuals are predisposed to very serious reactions to vaccines?
Yes, however, vaccines are not addressing the common cause of disease and disorder in human physiology. It is not the germs causing
disease and death and chronic illness, it is the bodies common, generic, non-specific immune response and electrostatic instability of
blood flow that is causing disease, and many states of autoimmunity, including multiple sclerosis, and much much more.” Oh please, now he just has his head up his ass. sorry, but your great hero, is a fucking Woo sales person.

Thank you for confirming (although I could see it early on) that this is a propaganda piece. Virtually every dissenting doctor who speaks out is labled by the money machine as a “quack,” a “loon,” or a “fraud.” Those who stay in “the fold” are rewarded, those who tell what they know publicly are eviscerated.

I remember a time when all the Medical Mafia had to do was suppress books and control what was reported in the media. It’s more complicated for them now, since the Internet, so they plant what I call “land mine sites,” to not only do damage control, but to brickbat the doctors who “step out of line.” But I didn’t need to tell you that. You already know it, I’m sure.

“Thank you for confirming (although I could see it early on) that this is a propaganda piece.”
No, dear: you are just rationalising your prejudices.
” Virtually every dissenting doctor who speaks out is labled by the money machine as a “quack,” a “loon,” or a “fraud.” Those who stay in “the fold” are rewarded, those who tell what they know publicly are eviscerated.”
Which is what happens when the dissenters are quacks, loons or frauds. Serious dissenters run scientific studies.
“I remember a time when all the Medical Mafia had to do was suppress books and control what was reported in the media.”
Sorry, that must have happened in a dream as books against medical treatments have always existed and so did news.
” It’s more complicated for them now, since the Internet, so they plant what I call “land mine sites,” to not only do damage control, but to brickbat the doctors who “step out of line.” But I didn’t need to tell you that. You already know it, I’m sure.”
Unfortunately, your conspiranoia does not equate with reality.

        • Chris January 5, 2018 / 5:16 pm

Andrew Moulden had a mental illness, and you are being an evil person to his family by bringing him up.

Also, where is Lanctot legally permitted to practice medicine? I can tell you it is the same place as Wakefield and Geier: no where.

Please go to your safe place as far away from this blog as possible.

          • Sukijopa January 5, 2018 / 7:12 pm

“Even before Dr. Moulden retreated from public view, a group of professional character assassins went to work to destroy his reputation in any way possible. They published lies and deceptions on the internet and did everything possible to bring him down. After he retreated, his websites were hacked and access to his teachings was largely destroyed. Yes, there were even death threats.”

“A colleague of Dr. Moulden who wishes to remain anonymous reported that he/she had contact with him two weeks before he died in 2013. Dr. Moulden told our source and a small number of trusted colleagues in October of 2013 that he was about to break his silence and would be releasing new information that would be a major challenge to the vaccine business of big pharma. Even though he had been silent, he had never stopped his research.

“The death of Andrew Moulden is shrouded in mystery. Some sources say he had a heart attack and others say he committed suicide.” – John P. Thomas, Health Impact News

Calling Dr. Moulden mentally ill would be offensive to his family. You people really are a nasty piece of work. And though the average person who is not an activist generally has no idea how far the dirty tricks go, more of them are finding out as time goes on.

Have you considered working in TV series CSI labs?

      Like…
” and biological waste products obtained from other species, containing foreign viruses, RNA and DNA, is “healthy and harmless.””
It would be ince if you provided specific evidence of this “biological waste” and what “foreign viruses, RNA and DNA” it contains.
“It’s very interesting that measles as “killer of malnourished children” is mentioned, but that no proposal for improving the health of the children with nourishment is mentioned.”
It also kills well-nourished children, mind you. Of course, avoiding malnourishment is being worked on.
” As far as trusting the statistics of WHO, I no longer trust anything that corporate-run agencies, disguised as government health institutions, tell us.”
Which means you know little to nothing about WHO. It is not a “corporate-run agency”.
” And remember, they’re still sticking with the story that injecting PUS scraped from wounds on cows is what ended smallpox epidemics, which is absolutely false!”
Erm… no. The first tests for a working smallpox vaccine extracted pus from people infected with cowpox and injected it into people to be vaccinated. Early on this method was replaced with vaccinia virus (another related poxvirus. Cows were never used as a source. Since there were still epidemics in the 20th century, nobody can faithfully ever have said what you talk about.
“I could try going into a lot of detail,”
And you should, if your arguments ere to be taken as anything but “on my sayso”.
” and take up a lot of space to refute the numerous deceptions contained in this article, but I will just say that nourishment is important;”
Well-nourished children die from vaccinable diseases or suffer serious side-effects.
” then the majority of children breeze through commonplace childhood diseases”
I wonder what you consider an acceptable “majority”.
” and are then rendered not only immune for life, but with a stronger immune system.”
      This does not actually follow.
” This does not happen when they’re injected with diseased animal cells, accompanied by toxic heavy metals.”
Nice scaremongering. It is a pity you are completely wrong.
” Deaths are produced, and the damages are many, both short term and long term, but the information is so well concealed from the public, that most people don’t even know how to connect the dots when they become afflicted with them.”
Luckily, there’s people like you willing to connect dots that aren’t even there while ignoring death statistics from diseases that can be now prevented through vaccination.

According to a Government Report on Glycerinated Calf Vaccine Lymph1 cow calves averaging eighteen weeks old are selected, and it will interest consumers of veal and ham pies to learn that they are re-sold to butchers.
The operating table can be tilted on its side until the calf is fastened to it. Its restoration to a horizontal position brings the calf ” into perfect subjection.” It3 head is encased in a leather muzzle, and its legs are firmly secured. The abdomen (and in some laboratories inside the flanks) is thoroughly scrubbed with soap and hot water preparatory to shaving, after which the surface is again washed. Then a number of incisions —varying from 100 to 120, each about an inch long and
xBy Sir RicharJ Thome, Thorne & Dr. S. Monckton Copeman.
two inches apart—are made by means of a lancet with a spear-headed blade.
To heal up quickly and satisfactorily a wound must be kept clean, but the object of these operators is to see the cuts fester and thus produce a maximum amount of matter. So over each incision a drop of lymph is allowed to fall, and this is well rubbed in. The process is a somewhat lengthy one, and when the ” lymph ” has dried the calf is removed from the table and taken back to its stable.
Whilst the calves are in their stalls their heads and legs are tied up to prevent them licking or scratching themselves. If it is only intended to collect the ” lymph ” from a portion of the vesicles, the animal is allowed to stand, but otherwise it is again placed on the operating table. The report describes the process thus:—
” The vaccine material is always collected on the sixth day. The calf is once more placed on the table ; or, if material is required for immediate use only, it is usually allowed to stand. The vaccinated area is washed with warm water, and dried with clean soft cloths. Each vesicle is now clamped separately, and the crust first removed with a lancet, which is then wiped on a cloth pinned to the front of the clean cotton blouse which the operator has previously donned.
” The vesicle is then thoroughly scraped with the edge of a somewhat blunt lancet, and the resulting mixture of lymph, epithelial tissue (skin) and blood is transferred to a small nickel crucible set in a wide wooden stand on a table close to the operator.
” To the pultaceous (gruelly) mass contained in the crucible there is added about an equal quantity of glycerine.
” The mixture of pulp and glycerine is triturated in a mixing machine driven by a small electric motor.
” The mixture, having thus been rendered thin and homogeneous, is received in a clean sterilised nickel crucible placed beneath the machine, but with a view to still further improving its appearance and of removing any extraneous matters, such as hairs, it is afterwards pressed through a small brass wire sieve, consisting of extremely fine gauze, into an agate mortar. This is done by means of a bone spoon, and there is left on the surface of the gauze nothing but a very small quantity of epithelial tissue together with a few hairs. The mixture is further triturated in the mortar with an agate pestle, and is then ready for filling into the tubes in which it is distributed.”

        • Chris January 5, 2018 / 7:00 pm

Oooh, are full cut and paste from John Scudamore’s website. What makes it even more hilarious is that Mr. Scudamore is a pig farmer. This is about smallpox, brought to you from the same guy who posts articles about smallpox vaccination that are well over century old (and the native population in North America are called “savages”… what I learned almost twenty years when I first encountered that fool on UseNet).

This means you have invoked Scopie’s Law: “In any discussion involving science or medicine, citing Whale.to as a credible source loses you the argument immediately… and gets you laughed out of the room.”

          • Sukijopa January 5, 2018 / 7:29 pm

I never heard of John Scudamore. You just throw anything out there, don’t you? ; confident in the protection of your almighty pharma money machine Empire. There are so many sources from the 19th and 20th centuries, describing the production of the “calf lymph” with accompanying photos of the wounds being inflicted, and the pus harvested, while the cow or calf is strapped to a medical table.

Extract from 1912 book] LEICESTER: SANITATION versus VACCINATION BY J.T. BIGGS J.P.

CHAPTER 100: How ” Glycerinated Calf Lymph ” is “Manufactured.”The calf is strapped to a tilting table, the right side being ” thoroughly scrubbed with soap and hot water, and then shaved. … A number of superficial incisions (about 100), each about one inch long, are then made in … several rows . . . en echelon. The lancet employed for the purpose has a spear-headed blade. . . . Over each incision a drop of glycerinated lymph is allowed to fall from a glass tube, and the drop is rubbed in with the flat portion of the blade of the lancet. The process is carried out by one of the laboratory servants, and is a somewhat lengthy one, “When the ‘ lymph’ has dried, the calf is removed from the table and taken back to its stall. The vaccine material is always collected on the sixth day. The calf is once more placed on the table ; or, if material is required for immediate use only, it is usually allowed to stand. The vaccinated area is washed with warm water, and dried with clean soft cloths. Each vesicle is now clamped separately, and the crust first removed with a lancet, which is then wiped on a cloth pinned to the front of the cotton blouse which the operator has previously donned. The vesicle is then thoroughly scraped with the edge of a somewhat blunt lancet, and the resultant mixture of lymph, epithelial tissue (skin), and blood is transferred to a small nickel crucible set in a wide wooden stand on a table close to the operator. To the pultaceous (gruelly) mass contained in the crucible there is added about an equal quantity of glycerine. The mixture of pulp and glycerine is triturated in a mixing machine . . . driven by a small electric motor. The mixture, having thus been rendered thin and homogeneous, is received in a clean sterilised nickel crucible placed beneath the machine, but with a view of still further improving its appearance and of removing any extraneous matters, such as hairs, it is afterwards pressed through a small brass-wire sieve consisting of extremely fine gauze into an agate mortar. The mixture is further triturated in the mortar with an agate pestle, and is then ready for filling into the tubes in which it is distributed.”

Following this introduction comes Dr. Copeman’s report. He starts with Paris, and, after describing the many precautions taken, one of which is “to prevent the calves from being able to lick the inoculated area of their body,” and another to keep the straw bed “free from urine,” for which reason “only cow-calves are employed,” of a special breed, informs us that they are weaned at the age of two months, cost 147 francs, and are re-sold to butchers at a loss of 30 to 40 francs each. Dr. Copeman says “tuberculin is not employed,” as, if signs of tuberculosis are found, the “lymph” is destroyed. There is, undoubtedly, a wide open door for disaster here.

The calf is strapped to a tilting table, the right side being:

” thoroughly scrubbed with soap and hot water, and then shaved. The process is carried out by one of the laboratory servants, and is a somewhat lengthy one, “When the ‘ lymph’ has dried, the calf is removed from the table and taken back to its stall.”
“The vesicle is then thoroughly scraped with the edge of a somewhat blunt lancet, and the resultant mixture of lymph, epithelial tissue (skin), and blood is transferred to a small nickel crucible set in a wide wooden stand on a table close to the operator.
“To the pultaceous (gruelly) mass contained in the crucible there is added about an equal quantity of glycerine.”
“The mixture of pulp and glycerine is triturated in a mixing machine . . . driven by a small electric motor. “The mixture, having thus been rendered thin and homogeneous, is received in a clean sterilised nickel crucible placed beneath the machine, but with a view of still further improving its appearance and of removing any extraneous matters, such as hairs, it is afterwards pressed through a small brass-wire sieve consisting of extremely fine gauze into an agate mortar. This is done by means of a bone spoon, and there is left on the surface of the gauze nothing but a very small quantity of epithelial tissue together with a few hairs. The mixture is further triturated in the mortar with an agate pestle, and is then ready for filling into the tubes in which it is distributed.”

“What dreadful agony the poor animals must suffer for the three-quarters of an hour occupied by this process of “clamping,” etc. ! But even this torture is exceeded by the ” calf-to-arm ” process, as described in the Report, in which ” compression forceps” and “lancets” for “scraping” are used for each separate operation.”

I don’t think I’m going to do any good here, arguing with liars. I don’t know how this article landed in my email box, but I will leave you all to self-congratulate, and lie.

How is an over century old screed relevant in the 21st century? John Scudamore is the person behind the whale.to website, which is where you cut and pasted those screeds from. All I had to do was take a sentence, and his page popped up as the only hit.

I can guess that someone is either worried about your sanity or even trying to get you riled up sent it to you.

All I had to do was take a sentence, put it in Google and one of his many pages popped up as the only hit.

You obviously don’t get out much.

        • MaGaO January 5, 2018 / 7:25 pm

I guess it would have killed you to just link your source, “Leicester: sanitation versus vaccination” by JT Biggs (copy available at http://www.whale.to/a/biggs.html ) for it is an antivaccine book and it would be suspicious (an explanation about why it is not reliable can be found at https://vaxopedia.org/2017/05/06/the-leicester-method-and-smallpox-eradication/ ).
Then again, I must admit I misunderstood your previous point by confusing the medium (cow lymph) with the agent (cowpox).
Yet the fact stands: this method helped fight smallpox and kept it mostly at Bay in populations with high enough vaccination rates, as shown by the Leicester case itself.
As before, you choose scaremongering. What is the issue of calves being used for meat production? Vaccinia does not infect humans.

Hi Sukijopa. I’m with you and so are all the legitimately informed people out there. These vaccine aggressors consider vaccinations a demonstration of faith and obedience that must be smilingly & gratefully performed by the unwashed masses…those they consider their guileless subjects, or this “herd” they like to speak of. Hey, when necessary for persuasion purposes they’ll even lower themselves and claim to be part of the herd too, but they know better. One thing certain people do extremely well…lie. Sorry, Laura, this means you are wrong.
” and so are all the legitimately informed people out there.”
            You should have written “misinformed”.
” These vaccine aggressors consider vaccinations a demonstration of faith and obedience that must be smilingly & gratefully performed by the unwashed masses…”
Faith? No, sorry. Vaccination is supported by evidence. No faith is needed.
“those they consider their guileless subjects, or this “herd” they like to speak of.”
Herd immunity means something completely different. You would do well to try and learn.
” Hey, when necessary for persuasion purposes they’ll even lower themselves and claim to be part of the herd too, but they know better. One thing certain people do extremely well…lie. Like seminar pros.”

I made an error in my previous reply when posting the figures about the so-called “frivolous” lawsuits paid out by the NVIC. Where I stated 80% of 3.8 billion dollars is 304 billion…obviously I left out a very important decimal point…it should say 3.04 billion ($3,040,000,000). Surely the usual suspects will pound out “ROFLTFAO!” and get in their usual childish remarks when a mistake is made by a despised anti-vaxxer. Ho-hum 💤

And I can’t find what those 3.8 billion are, either.

How is your math? Here are the most recent statistics:

              Click to access vicp-monthly-report-12-2017.pdf

Check out the first table, and look at its bottom row. Now take the total number of vaccines given over that specified time period: 3,153,876,236 total vaccine doses. Now run your finger across that row and find the total number of compensated claims: 3,548 total compensated claims.

Now take the first number and divide it by the second number. Tell us the resulting number and then explain what it means. Show your work. Then explain how many were paid under a “settlement”, and tell us what that means.

Also, I am waiting for the verifiable scientific documentation indexed on PubMed by reputable qualified researchers that it is better for a child get sick with measles instead of getting an American MMR vaccine.

              • Laura January 7, 2018 / 2:44 pm

From here: https://www.hrsa.gov/sites/default/files/hrsa/vaccine-compensation/vicp-monthly-report-12-2017.pdf – “Since 1988, over 18,897 petitions have been filed with the VICP. Over that 29-year time period, 16,857 petitions have been adjudicated, with 5,782 of those determined to be compensable, while 11,075 were dismissed. Total compensation paid over the life of the program is approximately $3.7 billion.”
Where you can also find the paragraph: “• Almost 80 percent of all compensation awarded by the VICP comes as result of a negotiated settlement between the parties in which HHS has not concluded, based upon review of the evidence, that the alleged vaccine(s) caused the alleged injury.”
The approx. 3.7 billion actually rounds out to closer to 3.8 billion, as in $3,798,347,273.42 which can also be found in the above link. Now, if anyone has a problem with the info or the math they’ll have to take that up with their HRSA, not with me.

                • MaGaO January 7, 2018 / 2:52 pm

Actually, it has to be taken with you because you don’t seem too know how VICP works. It is an administrative “court” that awards compensation on much weaker evidence that would be required at a true court of law. It was created because pharmaceutical companies were closed with bogus suits from supposed vaccination side-effects. Having to choose between having no vaccines or paying some people out, the US chose the lesser evil.
As you yourself quote, 80% didn’t even achieve the low standards of evidence required by the program.
That should make you think about the reliability of those cases as evidence of vaccine injury.

One more try and then I’m gone from this page. See, moderator, this is why my long comment on NVIC payments should have been printed. It deals with that misinformation from Magao of 1/7/18 2:52 pm. I will post it below in one more attempt here, and then I am out of here for good, as life is far too short to engage for days/weeks on end with a certain type of people.

                    • Laura January 7, 2018 / 2:58 pm

                      One more time:
NVIC in effect says that they routinely pay out on lawsuits, totaling $3,798,347,273.42 from 1988 to 2017. That’s almost 4 billion dollars, paid from vaccine taxes paid by patients—with said 80% of those compensated injuries/deaths not having been determined by HHS to be caused by the vaccines.

Well, that in effect says HHS didn’t determine they weren’t caused by vaccines either.

5,143 compensated patients (out of many more who filed petitions) from 1988 to 2017 having been paid 3.8 billion dollars; let’s see, that makes about $750,000 each, for those few determined by the NVIC as real damages and deaths caused by vaccines and thereby compensable. Well, isn’t that something special.

Still, going by their disclaimer against the 80% mentioned above, someone had better get on the case of the NVIC for paying off on all those lawsuits that were frivolous, using vaccine taxes paid by the faithful, right? 80% of 3.8 billion is 3.04 billion…that’s a lot of wasted money, right?

Those billions and many more are only the tip of the iceberg on what’s owed to all these families of vaccine injured children and other loved ones, some of them testifying here:

Actually, you contradict yourself. If over 18000 cases have been brought up and over 11000 have dismissed, this is certainly not a routine payout, even less when it covers a 30 year period.
” That’s almost 4 billion dollars, paid from vaccine taxes paid by patients—with said 80% of those compensated injuries/deaths not having been determined by HHS to be caused by the vaccines.

No, it isn’t. The medical costs of not having vaccines would have been much higher.

                • Chris January 7, 2018 / 2:58 pm

So how many years does that cover? How many total vaccines were given? How many claims were compensated?

Really, on the last one. The 5782 are the total given claims, only 3548 were compensated, try reading the table better. And most of them were a “Settlement.” Now look down below the table and tell us what “Settlement” means.

I asked you how well you do math, and you have demonstrated difficulty in reading a table. You also have issues on interpreting the total, by not factoring all of the given data.

Now, for the third time, please show us the PubMed indexed study published this century by reputable qualified researchers that it is better to get kids get measles instead of giving two American MMR vaccines.

Also, from that same table there were 94,815,650 MMR vaccines given, and a total of 116 compensated claims, of which 79 were settlements. Now what is the ration between MMR doses and compensations? Now compare that to the impacts of actually getting measles:

For those who are interested in learning the true history of vaccines and epidemics, I suggest, for a start, reading The Microbe Hunters. I read it in fifth grade and learned that vaccines have been saving lives for a free hundred years now.

After that I began learning microbiology from microbiologists while I was in microbiology labs.

      That’s where they do research,
      In research labs (not Google).

Hi! Great blog in general. I am a bit puzzled why you would not question vaccinations at all. There are a lot of open questions. Whenever there is so much money at stake you should consider if you are being fooled anyway. I am not saying vaccinations are wrong but I rather follow a “question everything” approach. It seems that the scientific community is settled that all vaccinations are good and so the kid should get them all otherwise I would be anti-vax and that is retarded.

Of course, whenever someone states antivax then measles comes up. Of course that should be vaccinated against, it is just so stupid not to do that since the disease is super bad and the vaccination is mild. But there are so many more vaccinations against other diseases where the decision is much harder.

Also there are several reasons for why vaccinations are used. For example, chicken pox is rarely a bad disease for the kids and the vaccination is not marketed for that purpose as well. It is marketed that immune-suppressed people would suffer a lot after being infected by sick kids. Also, the one we have is not working that well. 6 out of 10 kids in our kindergarten got it although they were vaccinated, in line with the reported efficiency after being vaccinated once. I think that is still ok and we vaccinated our kids.

There are multiple companies selling the same kind of vaccinations with slightly different compositions and often you have to make the choice indirectly by the doctor or the insurance company. Do you really know which one is better or the comparison or is it the funny sales rep from the company that decided for you?

It is such a hot topic and people play with statistics to get them in their favor on both sides. It is nearly impossible to know what is the best, it depends a lot on your circumstances. In the end, it is a gamble either way. Again, of course vaccinate your child against everything you think is important but please question it still. At least motivate it in an informed way and not in a simple case study that ended shortly after the vaccination.

“Hi! Great blog in general. I am a bit puzzled why you would not question vaccinations at all.”
Maybe it is because they have proved to be a very useful tool against disease and are much safer than suffering the disease(s) the vaccine protects from.
” There are a lot of open questions.”
Would you be so kind as to provide some of those open questions?
” Whenever there is so much money at stake you should consider if you are being fooled anyway.”
There is not that much money at stake: vaccines are almost a sideline in most pharmaceutical companies bottom line.
” I am not saying vaccinations are wrong but I rather follow a “question everything” approach. It seems that the scientific community is settled that all vaccinations are good and so the kid should get them all otherwise I would be anti-vax and that is retarded.”
Well, if you happen to consider that your opinion is enough to counter the evidence amassed on the benefits of vaccination you may expect to be asked for extraordinady proof.
“Of course, whenever someone states antivax then measles comes up. Of course that should be vaccinated against, it is just so stupid not to do that since the disease is super bad and the vaccination is mild. But there are so many more vaccinations against other diseases where the decision is much harder.”
Which diseases do you consider mild enough?”Also there are several reasons for why vaccinations are used. For example, chicken pox is rarely a bad disease for the kids and the vaccination is not marketed for that purpose as well. It is marketed that immune-suppressed people would suffer a lot after being infected by sick kids.”
Is that not a good enough reason? Also ,you don’t seem to consider the risk of encefalitis and other serious side-effects of suffering chickenpox.
” Also, the one we have is not working that well. 6 out of 10 kids in our kindergarten got it although they were vaccinated, in line with the reported efficiency after being vaccinated once. I think that is still ok and we vaccinated our kids.”
Sorry but 6 out of 10 is just slightly (if at all) above anecdotical evidence.
“There are multiple companies selling the same kind of vaccinations with slightly different compositions and often you have to make the choice indirectly by the doctor or the insurance company. Do you really know which one is better or the comparison or is it the funny sales rep from the company that decided for you?”
Are the “slightly different compositions” actually relevant?
“It is such a hot topic and people play with statistics to get them in their favor on both sides.”
And yet thet statistics only favor one side: pro-vaccination. Anti-vaccination advocates rely on anecdotal evidence, flawed studies and misinterpretation.
” It is nearly impossible to know what is the best, it depends a lot on your circumstances.”
Does it? If you don’t suffer from some specific ailments, vaccination is a better option than suffering the disease.
” In the end, it is a gamble either way.”
      They are not equal though.
” Again, of course vaccinate your child against everything you think is important but please question it still. At least motivate it in an informed way and not in a simple case study that ended shortly after the vaccination.”
Studies never stop after vaccination. Neither do medicine studies, by the way: they are the reason some drugs have been removed from the market after being shown to be unacceptably dangerous.

“Hi! Great blog in general. I am a bit puzzled why you would not question vaccinations at all.”

Obviously you have not read any of the other articles in this blog.

“For example, chicken pox is rarely a bad disease for the kids and the vaccination is not marketed for that purpose as well”

And you have definitely not read any of the comments in this thread. Try taking care of a six month old with chicken pox. Then you might say something different.

I really really think that full grown adults who think kids should suffer up to two weeks covered with dozens of painful itchy open wounds (pox) are very evil people who delight in the pain of sick kids.

“It is such a hot topic and people play with statistics to get them in their favor on both sides.”

Except those who really know statistics will vote for vaccination. Those who don’t are often math illiterate or lying. For instance:
“Also, the one we have is not working that well. 6 out of 10 kids in our kindergarten got it although they were vaccinated, in line with the reported efficiency after being vaccinated once. ”

Uh, huh. There is a reason the varicella vaccine requires two doses. Also, those who got chicken pox after just one vaccine had a much milder case. Not the full blown two weeks of misery all three of my kids endured a the year before the varicella vaccine was approved for use in the USA.

By the way, Ox won’t get that vaccine for almost a year. He needs to depend on community immunity to avoid the suffering endured by my youngest kid (who is sitting in an airport as they de-ice planes before hopping on one to visit us…. from grad school, which increases chances of getting shingle due having had chicken pox as an infant).

Adult shingles is no laughing matter; five years ago I watched my mother, in her 80’s, suffer through a month of literal hell… My dad had his right eye badly damaged when it migrated there 20 years ago, and I had a mild case just before my mother did (I’m in my 60’s). When they offered the vaccine “free,” I took it, even though I’m one who doesn’t bother with flu shots since I keep reading they are often ineffective and target the wrong strain.

I’ve championed a “middle of the road” voice here, and unfortunately I do see a lot of extremes. I think the schedule should be “spread out more,” and seriously, Big Pharma is putting the kibosh on research involving Thimerosal (which is still present in flu shots, as I understand it; insist on “Thimerosal free” if you get one, seriously).

Big speech on “dichotomous,” i.e. black-and-white thinking to follow…

        • MaGaO January 6, 2018 / 8:46 am

Oh, please, are we still going on about thimerosal? Are decades of research not enough to stop flogging this dead horse?
Thimerosal is only in one kind of flu shots: multi-dose packages. If you get your flu shot from a monodose pack you will get no thimerosal.
Not that it really matters: thimerosal leaves the body quickly enough to be harmless.

I’m glad you posted this. I am pro-science and modern medicine, but I also have an anxiety disorder. Because of this, hearing horror stories from anti-vaxxers makes me anxious even if I know they are scare tactics and probably also lies. It’s good to have people who have had positive experiences with vaccination posting their stories. Intellectually, I know that vaccines are safe and helpful, but emotionally it still helps to have stories like yours out there for the anxiety prone.

I’m so glad you found it helpful, thanks for letting us know!

3.8 billion dollars are only the tip of the iceberg on what’s owed to all the families of vaccine injured children and other loved ones, some of them testifying here:

    http://www.vaxxed.com/stories-categorized-by-vaccine/

The National Vaccine Injury Compensation program (NVIC) reports that they routinely pay out on injury/death lawsuits, totaling $3,798,347,273.42 from 1988 to 2017. That’s almost 4 billion dollars, paid from vaccine taxes by patients—with said 80% of those compensated injuries/deaths not having been determined by HHS to be caused by the vaccines.

Well, that in effect says HHS didn’t determine they weren’t caused by vaccines either.

5,143 compensated patients (out of MANY more who filed petitions) from 1988 to 2017 having been paid 3.8 billion dollars; let’s see, that makes about $750,000 each, for that select small percentage determined by HHS as real damages and deaths caused by vaccines and thereby compensable. Well, isn’t that something special.

Still, going by their disclaimer against the 80% mentioned above, someone had better get on the case of the NVIC for paying off on all those lawsuits that were frivolous, using vaccine taxes paid by the faithful, right? 80% of 3.8 billion is 304 billion…that’s a lot of wasted money.

I made an error in my previous comment when posting the figures about the so-called “frivolous” lawsuits paid out by the NVIC. Where I stated 80% of 3.8 billion dollars is 304 billion…obviously I left out a very important decimal point…it should say 3.04 billion ($3,040,000,000).
Moderator: Hope you won’t approve my first comment without posting this one too. After that, I’m out of this site for good.

I’m sorry your comment didn’t get posted right away; as Colin says, it was stuck in the spam queue and it took a little while to notice it.

I ask everyone commenting here to please be patient with us as Ox isn’t sleeping through the night yet and between working and caring for him we both have our hands full. Things should ease up a bit when we get some assistance with childcare next month.

      • Chris January 7, 2018 / 3:51 pm

Have you put something that was supposed go into the fridge in the cutlery drawer yet, or found the toaster in the fridge? Things that have happened in our and friend’s households.

For non-parents, putting things where they don’t belong is one of the side effects of sleep deprivation. Sure you may have handled it as a teenager or young twenty something in college, but it is a whole different thing when you are in your thirties.

A self-driving car should be required of all parents of newborns. I think as a sleep deprived parent I drove through at lease five red lights (over the period of three kids), and once arrived at a medical appointment for toddler where I did not actually strap the baby’s carrier with the seat belts.

So really, be very patient with these new parents. They are experiencing a sharp learning curve (no, a PhD does not prepare one for an infant) and are very sleep deprived. Any stories of being better than most of us will not be appreciated. Because most of us parents will know the truth!

          😉 So there!

Trust me, there are a reason that babies like Ox are so darn cute! It is a survival tactic.

PS: I think the anthropologist would appreciate this: when my kids were young I noticed I jumped up more for their whining, and not that of most other babies. I suspect their upset tones were matched to their parents’ genealogy. Though this could be me overthinking the issue.

Or maybe you were trained to recognize their voice.

            • Chris January 8, 2018 / 10:26 am

              That too. 😉
